After wanting to become more involved outside the classroom, Elizabeth Nava decided to join HBSA her sophomore year. She decided to join HBSA because, of the professional development skills and the community involvement it offered. She says it was the best decision she made during her time at ASU. It was her time with HBSA that developed her following business skills: leadership, networking, resume writing, and business etiquette. But the most important thing HBSA did for Elizabeth was the connection she made with fellow like-minded individuals who were just as passionate and motivated about their careers as she was. To this day she is still in contact with her fellow HBSA colleagues and they motivate each other to be the best version of themselves both personally and professionally.
Elizabeth is lucky to have had a mentor like Avilia Guardiola. It was she who introduced her to SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity). This internship changed Elizabeth’s life for the better. It was the summer of her junior year that she interned at IBM through SEO and then after graduation was offered a full-time position in New York. At IBM Elizabeth worked as a Financial Analyst for the Global Financing division. Her responsibilities included forecast and planning revenue, gross profit, and assets for all 7 worldwide regions. After working for IBM for two years she has decided to move back to Arizona and pursue other opportunities that she is passionate about and expand her skill set outside of finance.
“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out”. Elizabeth lives by this motto and she has made the best of her turnouts indeed.
Elizabeth has a special message for current HBSA members and that is “continue to be involved and take full advantage of the of the resources and network that HBSA provides you!”
